Animal Osteopathy

What is animal osteopathy?
Just like human osteopathy, animal osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that focuses on the relationship between the body’s structure (bones, muscles, joints, and connective tissues) and its overall function. It is based on the principles of osteopathy, which emphasize that proper alignment and mobility of the body can support overall health.
Techniques can include soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilization, and subtle adjustments aimed at restoring normal movement of the joints and musculoskeletal system, such as the spine and limbs. Osteopathy can be helpful in managing a range of physical issues, especially when combined with conventional veterinary care.
Here are common issues animal osteopathy is used for:
- Joint stiffness or reduced mobility
- Profilactics
- Back and neck pain
- Lameness/limping
- Discopathy, such as protrusion or hernia
- Hip dysplasia
- Muscle tension or spasm
- Recovery after injury or surgery
- Pre and post-orthopaedic surgery
- Sports or performance issues in active animals
- Age-related problems (e.g., arthritis or general stiffness)
- Postural imbalance
- Reduced flexibility or range of motion
- Scar tissue restrictions
- Stress-related physical tension
